Happy Lady

Follow along with cartoonist Bruce Blitz and learn how to draw a happy lady. She'll bring a smile to everyone's face.

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION...LIKE SCISSORS...SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO CARTOONING!

1. Start by loosely drawing an oval shape, with a pencil. Then, draw a line going across where the eyes would be, and a line going down the middle of her face. These are guidelines, to show that she’s facing forward.
2. Switch to marker to add the features. For a nose, draw a small v on its side. Put eyelashes on the eyes, using flowing strokes. Make eyebrows curved upward to show happiness.
3. Draw a large curved line for a big smile with 2 U’s on each side to show her cheeks.Draw the lips a little off center. To complete the face, draw over the line around the face that was drawn in pencil, and erase the guidelines.
4. Draw some strokes on top to create her bangs. Then draw one clean stroke on each side of the head to create her long hair. Then draw 2 swirls on either side of her face for earrings and add small circles (beads) for a necklace. You can draw in a few lines to show the thickness of her hair, but not too many.
5. To color your Happy Lady, use orange for her face and red for her lips. Try black for her hair, just near the major lines, light blue around her eyes and purple for earrings. When coloring, leave some white space to show depth.
