Get ready to make your own Tie-Dye t-shirt! Host Lisa Bleyaert is going to show you how to do this cool craft!

t-shirt
bucket of water
rubber bands
plastic bag
ketchup bottle
mustard bottle
2 colors of dye

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Wet t-shirt, then wring out until damp. Lay it out on a flat surface. Put your finger in an area around the middle.
  2. Twist the shirt around your finger, making sure the t-shirt lies flat.
  3. Put three to four rubber bands around it. You should space them out relatively evenly, so it sort of looks like a pie.
  4. Fill up your bucket with water and mix in soda ash. Let the shirt soak in that for about 20-25 minutes.
  5. Squeeze excess water out. Shirt should be damp, not dripping.
  6. Alternate dye in each section of rubber bands. Cover the shirt completely in dye, but don’t over saturate! Apply color slowly to ensure it does not puddle.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap for 24 hours.
  8. After 24 hours, run water over the shirt until the water dripping out is fairly clear.
  9. Cut the rubber bands off to see what it looks like.
  10. Wash and dry your shirt to set color.
