Get ready to turn an ordinary flip top garbage into a garbage eating monster!

flip top garbage pail
faux fur
glue
scissors
2 ping pong balls
large pompom
3 colors of felt
black marker
2 googly eyes
double stick carpet tape
cotton stuffing

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Use your black marker to measure and mark your fake fur to fit the top, base and sides of your garbage can. Use a ruler to make sure the main part you wrap around the body is straight.
  2. Have an adult help you cut out the circles for the top and bottom and use the excess fur to wrap around the side.
  3. Wrap double stick carpet tape around the top and bottom of your can. Be careful not to go over the opener.
  4. Attach the fur.
  5. Remember to cut out a hole for the opener.
  6. Use some cotton stuffing for the top of his head.
  7. Glue googly eyes onto 2 ping pong balls.
  8. Glue both eyes to the lid of the can.
  9. Glue on a pompom for the nose.
  10. Use your marker to draw some lip shapes onto your felt and cut them out.
  11. Cut out fangs from white felt.
  12. Glue the mouth onto your monster. Keep top lip on top part of can and bottom lip on bottom. Glue on fangs.
  13. Use tan felt to create D-shaped eyelids.
  14. Glue on eyelids.
  15. Make paws and claws out of the remaining fur and felt.
  16. Put glue on the pedal of the trash can. Glue the paws to the sides and pedal of the can.
