Sea Creatures Fridge Magnet

No need to grab your swimsuit to make this funky sea creature fridge magnet. Our host Laura Kelly will show you how to make this cool creature with some easy to find items. Follow these step by step instructions to make a fridge worthy magnet!

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE A SEWING NEEDLE, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

1. First we’ll make the sea creature form: Practice drawing favorite sea creature shape (fish, turtle, shell etc.). Approximately 3” x 3”.
2. Once you have a shape you like, place it onto the felt and trace around it with a marker.
3. Cut out shape.
4. Now to make the decorative turtle shell or fish belly: Take the yarn and either braid a long string approximately 20” long or finger knit.
5. To assemble sea creature, if you are gluing: Put some glue onto the belly of your sea creature. Spread a thin layer. With your braided string, start in the center and coil the band around itself.
6. If you are sewing: Begin in the center, coil a little bit around and sew down following the coil. Continue coiling and pinning until braid is all used up. If you have too much braid at the end, you can cut it and knot it where you need to.
7. You can draw on eyes if you wish or sew a seed bead eye.
