Take your family’s Thanksgiving dinner up a notch by creating festive hats for every member of your family!

2 pieces black poster board
glue
scissors
yellow felt
brown felt
grease pencil or white crayon
bowl
tape

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Make the brim of your hat by cutting a large circle out of black poster board. Use your bowl big enough to fit around your head like a hat would and trace around it with a grease pencil.
  2. Use your grease pencil to divide the circle in half. Then divide it into quarters. Divide that into 6, and then 8.
  3. Fold just the center of the posterboard, and make a snip inside the circle to begin cutting along each slice of pie. Make sure not to cut beyond the circle.
  4. Fold each of the pieces up.
  5. Use your grease pencil to draw a large circle around the smaller circle. Cut out and set aside.
  6. For the body of the hat, cut a rectangle out of black poster board slightly larger than the inner hole of the hat brim.
  7. Roll it up and tape the inside.
  8. Tape or glue the flaps of the brim to the inside of the hat body.
  9. Cut a strip of tan felt 2 inches wide and long enough to go around the body of the hat. Glue it around the bottom of the body.
  10. Cut a yellow felt buckle out and glue it on top of the tan felt strap.
