How would you like to take one cartoon character and transform it into many? Well Bruce Blitz will show you how with a 'toon called Change Doug's Mug!

paper
pencil
marker
colored chalks or colored pencils
eraser

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION...LIKE SCISSORS...SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO CARTOONING!

  1. Start by drawing 4 egg-shaped heads that are a little wider on the bottom. When drawing their faces, you want to make them all as alike as possible. Draw their eyes by drawing 2 C’s (one backwards) with 2 dots for pupils. Give them round noses and semi-closed mouths for a casual expression. Add sideways U-shaped ears.
  2. For the first Doug, add zany hair coming out above his ears, sticking out to the side. Add thick eyebrows, stubble and an earring.
  3. Give your second Doug a headband. Draw a line right across the eyes to close them halfway. Add curly hair above the headband and add a thick mustache.
  4. Give your third Doug sunglasses. Make a line above his eyes and add two squares above his eyes. Darken them in, leaving a little bit of white showing for shine. Put some lines in above his ears.
  5. Give him a thick beard using up and down strokes, and add two lines for eyebrows.
  6. Give your fourth Doug a Baseball cap. Add lines coming down from the top of the hat and a thick brim coming out of the right side. Give him a handle bar mustache and thick eyebrows, and you’re all done!
  7. Tip: You can use tracing paper to create new faces while keeping the original one you started with.
