REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE OBJECTS THAT COULD BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PUPPETS ALONE.

  1. Trace your cupid wings on a sheet of white foam, and cut out your pattern.
  2. To build the head and the torso, put a handful of stuffing into your white sock, all the way to the toe, using the seam as the nose. Cut a 4 inch piece of white yarn and tie it around the neck to create your head. Add some more stuffing for the body, using a little less than you did for the head. Tie the bottom of the sock in a knot, and cut off the excess. You can add a little glue to the bottom so the edges don’t fray. Let it dry if you do.
  3. Take a pink or red sock and cut it in half right at the elastic line. Cut out a square from the bottom portion of the sock. Then, cut the square into 4 equal rectangular portions. These will be the arms and legs. Put glue on the bottom and sides of each piece and fold or roll them together.
  4. Take your pink or red sock and put it on your puppet to create his costume. Fold up the top to create a turtleneck. Glue on the arms. You want to insert the arms under his neckline. Glue the legs on the bottom, sealing the bottom of the sock as well.
  5. Take a red marker and draw a smile onto his face. Add pupils and rosy cheeks.
  6. Take a piece of white fur and cut it from the back, into a circle. It should be about an inch around. Glue this tuft of fur onto the top of your puppet’s head.
  7. Glue the wings onto his back.
  8. Take a red pipe cleaner and cut a third of it off. Use the larger piece for the bow. To make the bow, create an “m” shape and tie on a piece of yarn to finish it. Cut a little triangle from white sheet foam, and glue it to the smaller piece of pipe cleaner for the arrow.
  9. Cut about 2 feet of yarn and tie it around his neck.
  10. Glue the bow to his right hand. You want to put the glue on the inside of his hand and fold it over. Glue the arrow to his right hand and bow. Stretch the yarn back so it looks like he’s about the shoot the arrow. Let dry for about 20 minutes.

Lynnette had a great question from her teddy bear puppet, Kim! Kim asked how I thought of making the Convert-a-Bear Puppet. Well Kim, when I was in high school... [Read More]
