Learn how to draw cartoon characters using objects that are associated with their jobs…like musical notes!

paper
marker

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION...LIKE SCISSORS...SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO CARTOONING!

  1. Make a musical note by drawing 2 lower-cased 'd’s' connected with a line.
  2. Using the first circle of the musical note as a nose, add an eye to the right by drawing an upside down V shape. Eyebrow should be going up. To complete the profile of her face, draw a line coming down from the nose, draw a large, open smiling mouth and then connect the line to the other musical note.
  3. Incorporate the second musical note into her hair by adding a few more curls, and finish drawing her head by connecting the line to the top left corner of the musical note. Add a large curl coming out from her forehead.
  4. Add a small line at the top of her mouth to close out the cheek. Draw in teeth with a tongue and darken in the inside of her mouth at her tongue.
  5. Add another musical note next to her mouth with a few lines coming out to show that she’s singing.
  6. Take out a fresh sheet of paper and draw an anchor. Make sure the top of the anchor has a little ball at the end of it.
  7. Who uses an anchor? A sailor! Use the bottom part of the anchor as a smile. Add a small curved line underneath to create his mouth.
  8. The circle at the top of the anchor will be his nose. Add 2 dots for eyes and 2 lines for eyebrows. Draw an outline around the anchor to create his face but stop right where his eyes are, so you can add a sailor hat. Add 2 ears at the ends of the line with detail.
  9. Make a curved line to top off his head and then draw a brim on top of that. Add a smaller curved line on top for the top of the hat. Draw a few dots on either side under the hat for stubble and a few lines coming out from the top for short hair. Add a couple lines of detail for his cheeks.
  10. Add his tie. Draw a circle under his chin and the 2 teardrop shaped folds of fabric with detail lines. Draw broad shoulders including lines for his arms, and his tie covering his shoulders.
