REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

1. Start by creating a picture of the earth using felt. Stack a piece of blue felt and a piece of green felt on top of each other. Then, take a bowl and trace around it with your marker. Cut around this circle to create two felt circles.
2. Set the blue piece aside and, on your green felt, loosely draw the shapes of North and South America, Europe and Africa with your marker. You can use a map as a reference. Cut out the shapes.
3. Place them on the blue felt and glue them down to create the earth. The blue felt will become the water between the continents.
4. Glue your whole earth to your canvas bag.
5. Use iron-on letters to create your Earth Day message. A good one is “Save Our Planet.” Cut out the letters and place them on your bag. Remember to put them on backwards since you will be ironing them on. You can always paint message on if you can’t find iron-on letters.
6. Before ironing, be sure to flip the letters back over once you’ve arranged them. To iron on your letters, read the manufacturer’s instructions. This is a job for your adult helper! The standard setting is the cotton setting on your iron for 15 seconds per letter. Peel off the backing of your letters and your bag is ready to wear!
