REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.
- Using your scissors, cut out two strips of black foam to serve as the axels on the bottom of your car. Place them on the lid side of your Chinese food container (this will be the bottom of the car) and cut the ends of each strip so that they’re just a little wider than the container itself. Be sure to tape down the handle of the container so that it won’t get in your way.
- To finish the axles, screw your furniture pads into the ends of the axles. These will be the wheels. Be careful not to screw them in too tightly or they won’t be able to spin.
- Time to decorate your car. Cut out some thin strips of blue and yellow sticky foam for the striping that will go on the sides. Trace the top of your car (the bottom of the container) onto the back of your remaining blue foam and cut that out. Peel off the backing and attach it to the top. Cut your blue and yellow strips to size and attach them to the sides of your car just as you did for the top. If you don’t have sticky foam, you can always use construction paper and glue.
- Draw headlights, a windshield, and grill lines on the front of the car, and windows on the sides above the stripes. Draw a window on the back too.
- Attach star stickers to the front and sides of your car.
- Use your sticky letters to spell out “Police” across the back of your car. You can also write them on if you prefer.
- Cut a small ‘X’ into the top of your car using an X-acto knife and insert your LED light through. Be sure to twist the light on before you insert it so that it flashes.
- Glue your axles onto the bottom of a car. Make sure they’re far enough apart that the wheels won’t touch. Set it side to dry. Then take it for a test drive!
