REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.
- Mold your air dry clay into a small, even ball.
- Take your wooden skewer (your mast) and insert the flat end into the top of your clay ball. Press your ball into a pyramid shape around the skewer so that it will sit flatly in the bottom of your boat while holding the skewer in place. Set it aside to dry.
- To make a sail, take your orange poster board and fold it in half to make two small rectangles. Cut the poster in two along the fold and use a ruler to draw two lines from the bottom corners of the rectangle to the top center to make a triangle shape. Cut out this shape.
- Decorate your sail however you want using markers.
- Take your skewer and poke it through your sail about ½ and inch from the bottom in the center. Slide the sail down the skewer and then poke it back through the sail at the top point.
- With the sail and mast now in place, glue your clay base into the center of your tin foil tray. Let it dry for 1 to 2 hours. Then you’ll be ready to set sail!
