Cork tile
Black marker
Ruler
Scissors
X-acto knife
Poster board
Wooden skewer
Liquid soap
Tray
Water

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Draw a square and triangle onto your cork tile (think of a house shape).
  2. Cut this shape out with scissors. This will be your boat.
  3. Use an X-acto knife to cut out a tiny notch in the back of your boat in the center.
  4. To make the sail, draw a small triangle onto your poster board and cut it out.
  5. Cut down a wooden skewer to be about 1” to 1 ½ “ longer than your sail. Make sure to use the end of the skewer with a pointed tip. This will be your mast.
  6. Poke the mast through the center of your boat.
  7. Poke the mast through the bottom of your sail and back out through the top. Then insert the completed sail into the hole in the middle of the boat.
  8. To test the boat out, place it in a tray of calm water. Place a drop of liquid soap through the notch in the back of the boat and it will move across the tray!
