Get ready for a smoking hot magic trick! Join Magician, Ryan Oakes as he shows you how to amaze and mystify with this “Hot Coin” magic trick! You will leave your audience saying “ HOW’D YOU DO THAT!”

A coin

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION…LIKE SCISSORS SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO MAGIC TRICKS!!

  1. To prepare, find a key with a round key ring hole. Place that in key in your left-hand pocket and a coin in your right-hand pocket.
  2. To perform the trick, start by showing your hands to your audience to prove that they’re empty and that there’s nothing wrong with them or your fingers. You can mention that there are no cuts and bruises on them, but try to avoid mentioning blisters.
  3. Reach into both of your pockets like you’re looking for a coin. Pull the coin out of your right-hand pocket and show it to your audience while you secretly slide the key out of your other pocket and hide it in your left hand. Casually place your left hand at your side with the key hidden in your finger tips.
  4. Rub the coin in your right hand between your thumb and index finger to demonstrate that it gets warmer with friction. Then, place it on the table.
  5. Place both hands behind your back. Create a little misdirection by leaning over the table and pretending to concentrate on the coin. This will keep the audience focused on the coin instead of what’s going on behind your back.
  6. As you pretend to focus on the coin and try to make it warmer, bring your right hand forward and quickly touch it to make your audience believe that it’s burning you. Bring your right hand back behind your back and continue “concentrating” on the coin.
  7. As you continue to focus attention on the coin, in your left hand behind your back, press your middle finger very tightly against the hole in the key. If you press like this for about twenty seconds, it will leave a very noticeable indentation on your finger.
  8. Still behind your back, place the key in your right hand and bring your empty left hand forward to touch the coin with your middle finger. Press down on the coin with your finger. Pretend that it’s really burning you and bring your finger up to show them. If you’ve pressed the key hole into your finger correctly and hard enough, the indentation will make it look like a round blister has formed on your finger from touching the coin. While your audience is grossed out by the “blister,” casually place your right hand into your pocket to slide the key in and they will be none the wiser!
