Severed Finger

Watch closely as magician Ryan Oakes performs some gross out magic!! Once you learn how to do the trick yourself, ask your friend if they would like to see something really gross... a severed finger!

Small jewelry box with cotton
Scissors
Ketchup or red marker

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION…LIKE SCISSORS SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO MAGIC TRICKS!!

1. Find a small jewelry box about the size of your fingers. Take scissors and cut a little hole into the bottom of the box. The hole should be slightly off-center and just large enough to easily slip your middle finger in and out and fold it down inside the box.
2. Cut a similar hole through the cotton insert that comes inside the box. If your box doesn’t have any cotton, you can use gauze.
3. Using ketchup or a red marker, make fake blood stains all round the whole in the cotton.
4. Place the cotton bloody-side-up into the jewelry box. Be sure to line up the holes.
5. To perform the trick, take your middle finger and insert it through the hole in the bottom of the box. Bring it through the cotton and fold it down inside the box. It may take some practice to hold your finger down perfectly flat against it.
6. Arrange your other fingers outside of the box so that it’s not as apparent that your middle finger is missing. Try holding the box with your thumb to the side of the box facing the audience. Place the lid on the top of the box and you’re ready to go.
7. Get your audience in really close, open the box, and show them the disgusting severed finger inside! You can make them touch it and even let it wiggle a bit to really gross them out!
