Filthy Feet Skit

Join in and sing along with Filthy Feet and The Toe Jammers as they try and get their "toe do" list finished.

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE OBJECTS THAT COULD BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PUPPETS ALONE.

1. Print out your mouth templates. There should be a foot-shaped template for the body of your puppet and a smaller one for the inside of the mouth.
2. Trace your foot template onto two pieces of tan felt. Be sure to only trace the mouth slot onto one piece of felt as the other piece will be the back of the puppet.
3. Cut out your foot shapes. Be sure to cut down in between each toe because the toes are where your fingers will go to operate the puppet.
4. Set the back piece of the puppet aside and cut the mouth slot out of the front piece.
5. Hold your template for the inside of the mouth against a piece of black felt. While holding it in place, cut along the edges of template to make the shape for the inside of your puppet’s mouth.
6. Glue the top oval edge of your black felt shape to the inside of your puppet’s mouth along the bottom lip. Be careful not to glue it to the top lip.
7. Once the top edge is glued down, run a bead of glue around the bottom outside edge of the black felt.
8. Fold the black felt over. Be sure to fold past the top of the oval portion to avoid sealing the mouth shut. This creates a liner and pocket for your thumb inside the puppet. Press the edge of the felt down to glue it in place and complete your mouth lining.
9. Run a bead of glue along the edges of the inside of your puppet. Start at the heel and work your way around the foot and the outer edges of each toe.
10. Line up the back piece of the puppet to the front and press it down along the glued edges to attach it.
11. Time to work on the face. Fold a piece of white felt in half and cut out two circular shapes for the eyes.
12. Fold a piece of black felt and cut out two smaller circles for the pupils of the eyes.
13. Glue down the white circles just above the puppet’s mouth.
14. Glue the pupils down in the center of each eye.
15. Flip the puppet over. Cut four squares out of purple felt to make the toenails. One shape should be bigger than the others for the big toe.
16. Round off the top corners of each square with your scissors.
17. Take a piece of brown fur and cut out a big oval for the top of the foot and four smaller ovals for the tops of the toes.
18. Arrange all of the toenails and pieces of fur where you want them on the foot and glue them in place.
19. Flip your puppet back over and lightly brush a brown marker over the face of your foot to make it look really dirty.
20. Glue bits of oatmeal under the face of your puppet to create bits of filth. Shake off any excess and set everything aside to dry.
21. While your foot dries, you’re going to make a gross toe jam buddy to go with him! To do that, start by using a Popsicle stick to trace two u-shapes side by side onto a piece of gray fake fur. The shapes should be about a quarter of the length of the stick.
22. Cut out your shapes together as one w-shape.
23. Apply glue to the back of the furry shape and wrap it around the tip of your Popsicle stick.
24. Glue white pom-poms onto your furry stick to make the eyes for the “toe jammer.”
25. Glue two shaky eyes onto the pom-poms.
26. To make the mouth, cut a small oval out of black felt and glue in place below the eyes.
27. To operate the foot puppet, place your hand inside with your thumb in the felt pocket for the mouth to make it move and a finger in each toe. Use your other hand to hold the “toe jammer” by the stick handle and move it through the toes of the puppet.
