REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Find an empty oatmeal container to serve as the main body of your castle. Draw a line every half-inch around the top rim of the container. Cut along each line about a half-inch into the container to create square-like shapes around the top. Then, take every other square that you’ve cut, bend them away from the container, and cut them the rest of the way off along the bends. Now your castle has a turret-edged roof.
  2. To make a door for your castle, draw an archway onto the front of your container and carefully cut it out with an X-acto knife and fold it down to create a drawbridge.
  3. Time to make the towers. Take two white poster tubes and measure out a seven inch long piece and an eight inch long piece from each tube. Cut them out.
  4. Glue your seven inch tubes to the sides of your castle towards the front and your eight inch tubes behind them towards the back. Set everything aside to dry for one to two hours.
  5. Paint the main part of your castle white to match its towers. Be sure to do this over a paper plate to avoid getting paint everywhere. Set it aside to dry for an hour.
  6. Use a black marker to draw windows onto your castle and its towers.
  7. Peel the backings off of your sticky foam flowers and place them wherever you want on your castle. You can always use markers to draw them on if you don’t have sticky flowers. Then, take a green marker and draw ivy vines to connect your flowers.
  8. To make the roofs for your towers, take two squares of pink paper and cut them into circles. Then cut each circle in half and roll the semi-circles into cones and secure them with tape, cutting off any excess.
  9. To make the flags for your cones, cut two pipe cleaners in half. Fold the tops of each half into a flag shape.
  10. Trim the ends of all of the halves to make your flags the same length. Then insert a flag into the top of each cone.
  11. Trace the base shape of your castle onto some wood grain paper and cut it out to make a wood floor for your castle. Trace the drawbridge shape onto it as well. Cut the shapes out and glue them onto the floor and bridge.
  12. To connect the drawbridge to the archway, use the X-acto knife to poke holes on either side of the arch and then the bridge. Then cut a piece of gold pipe cleaner in half and thread a half through the bridge and archway on each side, twisting the ends of the pipe cleaner to secure them.
  13. Tape the conical roofs with flags to the top of each tower and you’re ready to play!
