REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, LIKE SCISSORS, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE CRAFT PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Cut a circle out of your Styrofoam plate. Make sure your circle is small enough for your needle to stick out a little on both sides of it.
  2. Rub your needle with a magnet for about 45 seconds to magnetize it. Be sure to only rub it in one direction or it won’t work. Hold the needle facing away from you and roll it around in your fingers as you rub it to make sure it’s magnetized on all sides.
  3. Lay the needle down right in the middle of your Styrofoam circle and lay the circle down to float in a tray of water. The magnetism of the needle will cause it to spin and point North!
