The torn and restored rubber band is a trick that will surely leave your audience scratching there head! Join Ryan Oaks as he breaks down this cool trick step by step.

One thin rubber band

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION…LIKE SCISSORS SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO MAGIC TRICKS!

  1. Find a very long, thin rubber band. Size 19 rubber bands work very well.
  2. Hold the rubber band at the ends between both hands with your thumb and index fingers.
  3. Still holding one end of the rubber band in your left hand between your thumb and index finger, bring the other end over the front of your left fingers and back around behind them. Pinch this end between your pinky and ring finger and clench your fist. It will look like your fingers are rubber banded together to your audience. The rubber band is actually just doubled over your fingers in the front.
  4. To perform the trick, take your free right hand and stretch the rubber band out from your fingers. Open up your right fingers if you want to make it look like you’re really stretching it apart.
  5. To “break” the rubber band, use your right thumb and index finger and grab the rubber band right where you’re holding it with your left thumb and index finger. Pull tightly with your right hand while releasing that piece of the rubber band with your left hand. Do some acting to really sell that you’re breaking it, and be sure to keep the ends together so it really looks broken.
  6. Finally, release the other end of the band from your left pinky and ring finger into your right hand. Clench your right fist over the rubber band and turn it face-down. Wave your left hand over your right one, say the magic words, and open your right hand to reveal that the rubber band has been magically restored to one piece!
