A standard 6 or 8 inch square piece of origami paper

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Starting with the colored side of the paper facing up, take the bottom point and fold it up to the top point, creasing from the center outwards.
  2. Open the paper back up and spin it around so that the crease now runs vertically down the center of the paper when you look at it.
  3. Take the new bottom point and fold it up to the top point just as you did before.
  4. Open the paper back up again, take all four points, and fold them into the center, turning the paper with each point. It should look like a square envelope, and all of the colored side should be hidden by the folds.
  5. Turn the paper over and fold all four corners into the center just like you did on the other side.
  6. Take the bottom edge of the paper and fold it up to the top edge and crease. Open it up, rotate it ninety degrees, and fold it again, taking the new bottom edge to the new top edge.
  7. Open the paper back up one more time, flip it over, and push on the corners. You should start to see the colored side blossom outward again. As it does, open up the flaps of the paper. Now you can use it for decoration or to hold small objects like candy or paper clips!
