It's time to put pencil to paper --and turn a piece of paper into a pencil! Origami host Barbara Pearl shows you step by step how to make an origami pencil!

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

1. Place the paper white-side-up on the table. Fold it in half length-wise and crease sharply. This is called a “book fold.”
2. Unfold the paper and place it on the table in front of you vertically. Then, take a half inch of the width from the top, and fold it down towards you. This will create the colored tip of your pencil.
3. Turn the paper over, take the top corners of your paper (where the folds are for your tip) and fold them in against your length-wise crease to create a point.
4. Narrow that point by carefully taking the side edges of it and folding them against the length-wise crease. Always start with the narrowest part of the point and crease downward to the base.
5. Turn the paper back over. Take the width opposite the tip of your pencil and fold it up to about an inch away from the tip.
6. To finish the pencil, turn it over one last time and fold the sides against the line of symmetry created by the original crease.
