Join Origami host Emily as she shows you step by step how to make a Samurai Helmet! This very cool design is only a few steps and fun for all ages!

A standard 6 or 8 inch square piece of origami paper

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Place your paper on the table white-side up and hold it in the shape of a baseball diamond. Fold the bottom corner of the paper up to the top corner to create a triangle. Crease outward from the center of the fold.
  2. Take the bottom right corner and fold it up to the top point of your triangle. Crease.
  3. Take the bottom left corner and fold it up to the top point of your triangle. Crease. Now you should have two open flaps in your paper.
  4. Rotate the paper so that the top point and open flaps you’ve made are facing you. Fold the bottom right flap point up to the new top point of your paper. Do the same with your left flap.
  5. Take the tip of your top right flap and fold it outward. Do the same with the top left flap. These will be the horns for your samurai helmet.
  6. Take the top bottom flap of your paper and fold it up so the point comes up halfway between the horns. Take the bottom edge of this flap and fold it up over itself as far as it will go.
  7. Finally, turn your helmet over, fold the remaining flap all the way up to point of the helmet, and crease. Done!
