Join Origami host Emily as she shows you how to transform an ordinary piece of paper into a beautiful Star Box! All it takes is a little practice and Activity TV!

A standard 6 or 8 inch square piece of Origami paper

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Place the paper on the table with the colored side facing upward. Take the bottom right corner of the paper and fold it up to the top left corner, creasing sharply.
  2. Open the paper back up and fold the bottom left corner up to the top right corner.
  3. Open the paper back up and flip it over so the white side faces upward. Fold the paper in half horizontally.
  4. Open the paper back up and fold it in half vertically.
  5. Pinch the top and bottom ends of your folded paper and collapse the bottom end inward to create a small square. All of the folds you have made should make this easy.
  6. Turn the square so that the open side is facing you. Take the top left and right edges of the top layer of the square and fold them in towards the center. Turn the paper over and do the same thing on the other side. This will create a kite fold.
  7. Take the flaps of the kite and fold them out against the lower edges of the kite to make triangles.
  8. Open up the pockets that you’ve created in the left flap and flatten out the triangle. Do this for the remaining flaps on both sides.
  9. Fold the outer half of each triangle you’ve just created behind back behind them.
  10. Take the wide end of the kite (the bottom of your box) and fold it up towards the narrow end. Unfold it.
  11. Go around to all four sides of the shape and fold the points of the box down. Open the other sides up and do the same.
  12. Open the box up and collapse it along the bottom sides.
