Kick your feet up and take a seat! Learn step by step how to make a bench from paper! With a little folding magic and piece of paper, Origami host Emily will show you how to make your very own origami bench.

A standard 6 or 8 inch square piece of origami paper

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Place your paper on the table with the white side facing upward. Fold it in half from the bottom edge to the top edge. Crease sharply.
  2. Rotate the folded paper so that the open end of the fold faces you.
  3. Fold the left edge of the folded paper to the right edge. Crease at least twice to make the line crisp.
  4. Undo step 3 and fold the right edge of the paper to the fold you’ve just created in the middle, creasing sharply.
  5. Fold the left edge in to meet the right edge at the center fold. Crease.
  6. Fold the top left and right corners of the flaps you’ve just made down against their outer folds to make triangles.
  7. Open the triangles back up and unfold the flaps.
  8. Open and flatten out the triangles you’ve made against the table.
  9. Fold the seat flap you’ve created in the middle to the top edge of the paper, then fold it in half against its bottom edge.
  10. Bring the seat of the bench down so it points out from the paper and close up the outer triangles of your paper to make the walls that hold it in place. You’re done!
