Grab a 5 dollar bill and a 1 dollar bill and you've got the beginnings of a great trick! Host Ryan Oaks shows you how to turn your friends and family into adoring fans!

Two different bills (a $1 and $5)
A pencil

SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION…LIKE SCISSORS SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO MAGIC TRICKS!

  1. To begin, lay your five-dollar bill face-up on the table. Lay your one-dollar bill over top of it. The bills don’t have to be a one and a five but they do have to be different from one another.
  2. Make a v-shape with the bills. When you do this, make sure the one is slightly farther forward on the table than the five.
  3. Take a pencil and line it up with the bottom of your v-shape. Starting with the tips, roll the bills together around the pencil. Make sure you point out to your audience that the one-dollar bill is still on top of the five-dollar bill as you do this.
  4. Roll the pencil in the bills all the way to the top, to the point where the five is just barely hidden.
  5. Time for a little misdirection. Call on a friend or assistant to place his or her fingers on the tips of the two bills, which should be sticking out from under the pencil.
  6. As you point to the tip of your one-dollar bill while directing your assistant, roll the pencil slightly forward so that the top of the five-dollar bill rolls completely around it. When you roll the pencil back to where it was, the five should now be protruding slightly farther out from the pencil than the one.
  7. When your assistant places his or her fingers on the two bills, point out that the bills are secured under the fingers as well as wrapped tightly around the pencil.
  8. Unroll the pencil completely. The five will now be overlapping the one!
