Join Origami host Barbara Pearl as she shows you how to fold your very own Origami Picture Frame! This is a great gift for friends and family!

A standard 6 or 8 inch square piece of origami paper
4 inch square picture

REMEMBER THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS WORK UNDER ADULT SUPERVISION. SOMETIMES WE USE THINGS THAT CAN BE HARMFUL, SO DON'T EVER ATTEMPT TO MAKE THESE PROJECTS ALONE.

  1. Start with the colored or patterned side of the paper facing upward. Fold the paper in half and crease sharply.
  2. Unfold the paper, rotate it by a quarter, and fold it in half again the other way. Crease.
  3. Unfold the paper. You should now see four squares impressed on your paper from the folds. Rotate it so it’s in the shape of a diamond and fold each point to the center of the paper, creating four triangular flaps.
  4. Turn the paper over and hold it in the shape of a diamond again. Fold each of the points into the center as you did before. Be sure to crease sharply as the folded paper will be thick.
  5. Turn the paper back over. You should now have four squares on the paper. Fold each square in half (towards the outer points to make triangles) to reveal the color or pattern of the frame. Crease.
  6. Turn the paper over again. Lift the left and right triangular flaps up and set them out so they face the ceiling. This creates a stand for your frame.
  7. To frame something, simply open the flaps of the frame, slide your picture in, and fold the flaps back down over the edges!
