A dollar bill (any denomination)
A coin (any kind)
SOMETIMES WE USE MATERIALS THAT REQUIRE ADULT SUPERVISION…LIKE SCISSORS SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY AROUND WHENEVER YOU DO MAGIC TRICKS!
- To prepare, take your dollar bill and fold it into a “w” shape. Give it a slight crease so that it folds naturally into that shape.
- To perform the trick, start with your thumb pressing the coin against either end of the back of the bill. Hold the bill up by both ends with the front facing forward to look like you’re fairly showing everything to the audience.
- Next you have to show that both of your hands are empty. In order to do that, you need to perform a secret move as you snap the bill. As you fold the bill into a “w” for the snap, push the coin across the fold and catch it with your other thumb before snapping back. Casually show your free hand. This may take practice.
- Perform step 3 again to reveal that your opposite hand is empty as well if you haven’t already. You don’t have to say your hands are empty. Just let the audience see that they are.
- Fold the bill around the coin. Fold the bill in front horizontally first. Then fold it back around the coin. Use your thumb and forefingers to hold the coin in place.
- Do a little magical move with your free hand (wave it around the bill, snap your fingers, etc.) for show.
- Tilt the bill to pour the coin into your free hand and the audience will think you magically made it appear out of nowhere!
