Laura Kelly is the founder of The Handwork Studio, a Kids’ Needle Arts, Textile and Fashion Studio, located in Narberth, Pennsylvania. Despite a successful Wall Street career, Kelly longed to find a way to combine her entrepreneurial spirit, desire to work with young children, and passion for traditional needlework into a sustainable business. In 2003, The Handwork Studio was born - a place where children in grades Pre-K through 11`learn the practical arts of knitting, crocheting, machine sewing, embroidery, crafts and fashion design in a relaxed, stress-free atmosphere. The storefront business provides hundreds of local children with a variety of after-school and weekend classes, camps, birthday parties, and community service projects. Her goal is to make handwork available to all children and to revolutionize the needle arts industry making it hip and cool for kids.
