Born in New York, Scott’s design sensibility has been sculpted by the constant creativity and energy of his surroundings. From the day he came into the world his dad fostered his love for creating special environments, creating a toy soldier themed nursery complete with marching soldiers on the walls and a full-size soldier’s guard house to hold a collection of art supplies, building blocks and everything else a creative kid would need to get him on his way.
Throughout his childhood, holidays would become elaborate events, often including weeks of planning, construction, installing, and decorating to make each one an unforgettable happening.
This tradition continued when Scott purchased his own house after attending college at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia as a Graphic Design major. Holiday parties became outrageous displays, each outdoing the previous year. Halloweens included fully automated Haunted Houses and cutting edge costumes. Christmas celebrations included filling the inside of the house with a forest full of Christmas trees, or dumping truckloads of Styrofoam packing peanuts around the house to create a snow covered floor. One year he even went as far as spraying down the whole exterior with foam “movie snow”- the lawn, trees, rooftop, everything… creating the only snow-covered house on the block!
Financing these ideas came at a price however, so out of college Scott took a job at his families clothing business, where he designed eye-popping prints for the fabrics that were used to create the Sicari clothing line. This experience elevated his love of using brilliantly bold color combinations, which would later become a design trademark that would appear throughout his work.
Throughout the early years of his career, Scott would become involved in other projects including retail marketing and display,
not only for his family’s business, but other company’s as well. He’d work as a copy writer, continue his education in photography, and begin a stint as an interior decorator. All of these endeavors would lead him into owning and designing his own mail-order “Home and Garden” catalog business.
But it was a chance encounter on the set of a Marky Mark music video that would change his path forever. A friend needed some last minute help on set and Scott fell into the role of prop assistant. From that day on, he began to build his new career as a set designer to the stars! Over the next ten years he worked with some of the biggest directors in the business, using his imagination to create sets for music icons including Whitney Houston, N’Sync, Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper, Aaliyah,
Luther Vandros, De La Sol, Salt-N-Pepa, Brandy and on and on...He has designed commercial sets for the likes of Brad Pitt, Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne, Martha Stewart,
Whoppi Goldberg and Regis and Kelly just to name a few. A wide variety of TV shows owe there signature looks to Scott’s unique design style as well, including the long running discovery channel show “Home Matters” and the travel channel’s “Epicurious” to cutting edge programs like VH1’s “The RuPaul Show” and
MTV’s “The Andy Milonakis Show.”
Along the way, Scott has become an accomplished carpenter, painter, special effects creator, and problem solver…
a daring designer with a rock-n-roll edge…an edge that would help him create some of the coolest kid’s rooms ever as the “boy” designer-host on NBC’s and Discovery Kids 2-TIME EMMY NOMINATED SHOW “TRADING SPACES:Boys vs Girls.” Scott has brought with him over a decade of skills behind the camera, along with his “have no fear” attitude to become the most outrageously creative personality in front of the camera today!
